Captain Underpants I am still trying to determine if this artist is the same person as the host of the TV show Impractical Jokers...

Nevertheless, there is some great music here. You can definitely hear the inspiration in the tracks. Thanks!

about

This is my previously unreleased, untitled debut record.

Ten years ago I was working under the Sub moniker on my very first album for the newly relaunched em:t records. It was scheduled to be the first artist album for the label but things didn't work out that way. Some of the material evolved its way onto my 2008 debut Where Edges Meet on Ultimae. Most was abandoned, much altogether lost.

I've been asked many times in the intervening years to resurrect this material but have always resisted - partly out of a desire to look forwards not backwards and also because the early 00s wasn't a great time for me. I knew there would be traces of that unhappy period in the music, even if they're only recognisable to me. I also knew the technical setup involved had been superseded by several generations of hardware and software, such that even if I could find the original files there would be no way of making further adjustments.

So I was pleasantly surprised when I finally felt ready to dig out the backups. This material stands up even though it's not mixed, not mastered, for the most part not even finished. It's mp3 only - apologies but that's all I have. Neither was I able to find all the tracks listed on the discogs promo so I had to substitute a few with other unreleased pieces from that period. Still, consider this an historical document, one that contains many future stylistic and tonal musical seeds. I hope you find it worth your while to download and listen, looking back in this old mirror has certainly proved worthwhile for me.
